From Executive Manager, Become International Professional Trainer
If you have a chance to travel the world with first class cabin, stay in sixth starts hotel, get to know many good friends and earn an attractive income, will you be interested? It sounds fantastic, however, the greatest satisfaction of being a trainer is rather bringing great values that have positive influence towards improving other’s life.
The writer discovered a very interesting commonality from among the six hundred participants over the last twenty enrolments of International Professional Trainer program held within the last few years. Regardless their professions and where they come from, some are executive managers, some are professional specialist like doctor, pilot, trainer or even CEO, every single person enters the training room with different objective. Some expects to make a change in their career life, to do something that they like to do, some are preparing for their retirement, some hope to gain more freedom and earn extra income through training and there are some enjoy the special status being a trainer and wish to be respected through this engagement. Although there are differences among the objectives, they all have a common characteristic, that is, they are very passionate to share.
What is your impression about training? And what do you think a trainer’s roles?
There were once, the writer was invited to his students gathering, everyone in the group was very excited and sharing their success and accomplishment over the past one year after attended the training. Finally, after everyone finishes, all students invited the master (which is the writer himself) to speak, the writer stopped for a while and replied: ‘I felt so proud listening to your successes, you all have grown so much and came a long way. Personal growth indeed important, we shall not forget the key objective of training, that is to help others making positive changes.’
He pointed to the training room’s door and said: ‘The highest satisfaction of a trainer is rather seeing the participants making immediate positive changes at the end of the session before they step out from the door, as compared to when they first entered into the room.’ He continued to say: ‘There is a candle within one’s heart, some had been lighted and some were still hiding in the dark. Pleased to say, the candles within our hearts have been lighted by others. Our most important mission is to light up other’s candle. One day, when our candles melt, the last moment just before the light is off, you look back and found out that the entire room has been lighted up brightly, that will be the most meaningful thing in our life.’
What are the conditions to be an excellent trainer?
The writer would like to share the four key criterias:
(1) Right Attitude
In fact, the trainer’s quality has a direct correlations and influence to the training demand. The 20% of extraordinary trainers in the market earns the 80% of training income in the market. To be excellent, it’s essential for you to adopt necessary professional skills and techniques. It’s just like swimming. Beginners are suppose to take up professional swimming course to learn the right techniques, however, if they started with own swimming style and adapted to the wrong habits, when they go back to meet the instructor, it will take much more efforts and times to make changes.
(2) Look for the Right Instructor
One of the ways to learn is to being through the failure, learning from lessons, however, sometimes the lessons may be too costly that can’t be afforded. The smartest and most cost effective way is to follow and learning from the experience trainers or coaches.
(3) Join the Community
The best learning environment is the associations or communities that provide the positive and motivating culture. Everyone has common goals and experiences to share and it provides good opportunities and practice grounds for you to improve and to be better.
(4) Dare to Change
Trainer is a highly respected profession as it’s a profession that helps other to make positive changes in life. Trainer’s credibility and integrity is crucial. The only ways to influence other’s to change, is to first change within. Making change is just like driving your car, if you wish to wait until all traffic lights to turn green before you make the first move, you may just ended up waiting your whole life.
Think about it. If you wish to make changes in your life, what are you waiting for?
